Mecanum’s Beta Cabin is the solution for a quick and accurate sound absorption and transmission loss tests on small samples.
Absorption measurements are made using a proprietary procedure closely related to ASTM C423 and ISO 354. Sound transmission loss is measured by estimating the incident power from the quasi-diffuse field inside of the cabin and by measuring the transmitted power via a sound intensity scan at the surface of the tested sample. The method is similar to ISO 15186.
The quasi-diffuse field inside of the cabin is generated by four loudspeakers excited with white noise. A microphone antenna is used to evaluate the sound field inside the chamber.
The dimensions of the cabin can be customized. Its range of validity is checked by systematic comparison with classical tests using GAUS (at Université de Sherbrooke) reverberation and transmission loss facilities.
