Ultrasound tortuosity meter
The ultrasound tortuosity meter (or ultrasound refractometer) is specifically designed to obtain reliable measurements of the tortuosity and characteristic parameter of a wide range of porous materials typically used in noise control. The system is based on the measurement of the ultrasound refraction index.
Material properties
Applications
The Mecanum's ultrasound tortuosity meter has been a proven value to the world’s leading material suppliers to both the automotive and aircraft industry. It is used for:
- quality control in the manufacturing process of materials
- research, development, and innovation
- feeding acoustical prediction software dealing with sound absorbing materials
Features
The system includes two pairs of ultrasound transducers (50 and 100 kHz), one high voltage pulser/receiver system, one specimen holder, one acquisition system, and the Tor-X™ software. The Tor-X™ software assists the experimenter during the measurement and calculates the statistics on the tortuosity and characteristic parameter.
